How to Protect Your Warranty Without Paying Dealership Prices If you’ve recently purchased a new or near-new vehicle, you’ve probably been told that servicing it at the dealership is the only way to keep your warranty valid. For many drivers in Hornsby, this belief leads to higher servicing costs and unnecessary inconvenience. The reality is very different. With the right workshop — like Gurkhas Auto Repairs Pty Ltd — you can maintain your vehicle to the highest standards and protect your warranty at the same time. What Is a Log Book Service? A log book service is a scheduled service outlined by your vehicle’s manufacturer. It specifies exactly what needs to be checked, replaced, or adjusted at certain time or kilometre intervals. These services are designed to keep your car operating safely, efficiently, and reliably throughout its lifespan. Unlike a basic service, a log book service is tailored to your specific vehicle. It ensures that everything from engine components to safety systems is maintained according to factory standards. Does Log Book Servicing Outside a Dealership Void Your Warranty? This is one of the most common questions asked by drivers in Hornsby — and one of the biggest misconceptions. You are not required to return to the dealership for servicing to maintain your warranty. What matters is that the service is carried out correctly. To protect your warranty: The service must follow manufacturer specifications Appropriate parts and fluids must be used Records must be properly maintained At Gurkhas Auto Repairs Pty Ltd, every log book service is performed to meet these requirements, ensuring your warranty remains intact. Why More Drivers in Hornsby Are Choosing Independent Workshops Many vehicle owners are now turning to trusted local workshops instead of dealerships. The reasons are simple: better value, personalised service, and greater flexibility. At Gurkhas Auto Repairs Pty Ltd, you’re not just another number. You receive tailored advice based on how and where you drive, whether that’s daily commuting, weekend trips, or heavy-use conditions. You’ll also benefit from transparent communication, with clear explanations of any work required — no surprises, no unnecessary upselling. What Happens During a Log Book Service? Each service varies depending on your vehicle, but typically includes a detailed inspection and servicing of key components. This often involves checking and maintaining: Engine oil and filters Brake systems Suspension and steering Tyres and tyre pressure Cooling system Battery and electrical systems Drive belts and hoses Any worn or damaged parts are identified early, helping prevent costly repairs down the track. The Long-Term Benefits of Regular Log Book Servicing Keeping up with scheduled servicing isn’t just about warranty compliance — it delivers long-term benefits that every driver in Hornsby can appreciate. A properly serviced vehicle will: Run more efficiently and use less fuel Deliver better performance and reliability Maintain a higher resale value Be safer to drive under all conditions Skipping or delaying services can lead to increased wear, reduced performance, and potential warranty issues if something goes wrong. Engines that operate through internal combustion rely on large amounts of clean air to ensure the fuel burns properly and generates the power needed to drive the vehicle. At Gurkhas Auto Repairs in Hornsby, we understand how vital it is to keep your car's air filter in good condition as part of protecting your engine's health. Your engine requires extremely clean air to function efficiently. Dirt, dust, and other particles entering the engine can cause serious damage. That’s where the air filter comes into play. It ensures the air entering the combustion chambers is clean, shielding key engine components such as the pistons and cylinders from wear and damage. Why Replace Your Air Filter? Save on Fuel Costs: Your engine requires the correct balance of fuel and air to run efficiently. A clogged air filter restricts airflow, causing your engine to run inefficiently – often referred to as ‘running rich.’ This not only puts additional stress on your engine but can also increase fuel consumption by up to 10%. No one likes spending more on petrol than necessary! Protect Your Engine: Over time, air filters become clogged and weaker, increasing the risk of damage. A damaged or overly dirty air filter can allow harmful particles to enter the engine, potentially leading to expensive repairs. Benefits of Replacing Your Air Filter: Extends the life of your engine Improves fuel efficiency Reduces vehicle emissions At Gurkhas Auto Repairs, we always check the condition of your air filter during every full car service. Whether it’s a major or minor service, or one that follows your manufacturer’s handbook or logbook guidelines, you can trust us to keep your engine running smoothly.

Keep your engine healthy with clean air filters. Improve fuel efficiency, reduce emissions, and extend engine life. Visit Gurkhas Auto Repairs for expert maintenance and reliable car servicing.
